Bill Kelliher Admits To Being An Acoholic
Just read Mastodon’s interview in the new Kerrang! and it’s pretty depressing on Bill’s end. After his health scare in 2008 he admits to still getting drunk and having an alcohol problem, and he’s even contemplated quitting the band.
“It’s definitely a disease, alcoholism, and I’m not cured of it yet…I don’t know if that means I’d have...

fucking epic.
This is incredible from start to finish. The only slight downer is that Brent’s kind of off-key.

Jonah Hex Update
Yesterday, Brann took to Mastodon’s official message board to clear up some of the mess surrounding the band’s contribution to the Jonah Hex soundtrack. It had initially been reported that the band was cut out of the movie, which sent fans into a collective frenzy. Brann had this to say:

Even if Mastodon ultimately gets shut out of the Jonah Hex soundtrack, Crack the Skye seems set to hit the big screen. According to an inside source, Brann has written up a formal script for the movie and is currently shopping around for directors and producers who would be willing and eager to bring his vision to life. Nothing is set in stone, but a CTS movie...

Mastodon Cut Out Of Jonah Hex?! →
*Click title to read*
Holy crap this sucks. The one opportunity this band gets to really have some decent exposure and their hard work is omitted. What a load of bullshit.

When did you first discover Mastodon?
As in, “When did you first become aware of the band’s existence?”
I (CodeAires) discovered them about 2004, 2005-ish, around the time Leviathan was hot. They were a band I had heard of for ages before actually hearing them. I’m pretty sure “March of the Fire Ants” was used in an episode of Viva La Bam and that’s how I first heard them.
